Quick Start Guide
Before beginning the FIOS G1100 router setup process, make sure that your computer meets the following system requirements:
A computer that allows you to connect to the Internet
Browser: Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
Setting up the FIOS G1100 router for the first time
Step 1: Connecting the router to the Internet
Initially, make sure that the Internet is active.
Next, get an Ethernet cable or a coaxial cable for the setup.
For Ethernet cable: Get the white Ethernet cable that is provided along with the router. Plug an end of the cable into the WAN port of your router. Similarly, connect the other end to the high-speed Ethernet wall jack.
For Coaxial cable: Plug the Coaxial cable’s one end into your router’s coax port and the other end into the coax wall jack.
Using the router’s power cord, connect the router to an electrical outlet.
Step 2: Connecting the router to your computer
You can connect your computer to the router over a wired or wireless connection.
Enable the Wi-Fi option on your computer.
Look for the router’s default Wireless network name and password on the side panel of your router (on the label).
Now, on your computer screen, you can find the list of network SSIDs that are available.
Choose your router’s SSID and type its password.
For wired connection
Get an Ethernet cable.
Now, connect the router to your computer using the Ethernet cable.
Make sure that the cable is connected securely.
Once your Windows or Mac computer is connected to the router, you can configure the router settings using its web-based Graphical User Interface page.
Step 3: Configuring the router settings
On the computer that is connected to your FIOS G1100 router, open a web browser.
In the search field of the browser, type your router’s IP address or URL.
Now, the Welcome to you Verizon Fios Router page will appear on the screen.
Click on the Get Started button on it.
In the opened window, type the default security key of your router in the Admin Password field and click Next.
Configure the router settings by following the on-screen instructions.
