Place the router on a flat surface away from direct sunlight.
Do not keep the router next to any metal objects since they will result in a signal loss when the router is setup.
Place the router somewhere in the center of your home or office, so it can cover an equal amount of range for all your wireless devices.
There are two different ways in which you can connect and set up the Asus RT-N12 router.
We recommend using the wired connection for the initial stage because there can be problems when you use the wireless connection.
Connection set up for the Asus RT-N12 router
Let us now dive into the steps for the Asus RT-N12 router setup.
You can use the Quick Internet Setup (QIS)to find the internet connection and help you in finishing the setup much quicker.
Place the router next to your modem.
Take the Ethernet cable that came along with the router. Connect it to the modem and the router (WAN).
Take another Ethernet cable and connect it between your computer’sLAN port and one of the four ports on the router.
Configuring the Asus RT-N12 router
With the help of the router’s Web Graphics User Interface, you can perform the setup in simple steps.
Open the default browser on your computer.
Now that we have the cable already attached between the computer and the router, the Quick Internet Setuppage will open automatically.
If prompted, you have to enter the router’s username and password.
Now, you have to enter a new password for your router.
In the next step, you have to choose the mode for the router.
Now, the Internet connection type will be auto-detected by the router. If it fails to detect your Internet connection, choose the correct radio button and provide the prompted details.
In the next step, you have to set up an SSID and password for the router and complete the setup.
Click the Finish button.
