Asus RT-AC51U+ is an ultra-thin and stylish router. It features 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual bands for unmatched concurrent wireless HD streaming. The router also features an SMB server, UPnP AV server, and FTP server for 24/7 file sharing. Follow the steps to perform the Asus RT-AC51U+ router setup.

You might need future warranty services like repair or replacement. So, keep the packaging material safe.
After unpacking it, continue with the Asus RT-AC51U+ router setup.
Note: If any items are missing or damaged in the package, you have to contact the ASUS support team for technical inquiries.
Position your router
For the best wireless signal transmission, refer to the following points.
Keep your router in a centralized area.
Place the router away from metal obstructions. Also, it must be away from direct sunlight.
The router should be placed away from 2.4GHz computer peripherals, Bluetooth devices, and other interference causing devices.
Align the two detachable antennas.
Before the Asus RT-AC51U+ router setup, check if your computer meets the following requirements.
An installed TCP/IP service
Web browser - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome
IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless capability
Insert the adapter into your router’s DC-IN port and a power outlet.
Use a network cable to connect the router’s LAN port and your computer’s Ethernet port.
Take another network cable and connect it between the router’s WAN port and your modem’s rear port.
Plug the modem’s AC adapter into a power outlet.
Make sure the router and modem are powered up. Now, you have finished the hardware setup of the Asus RT-AC51U+ router.
Quick Internet Setup (QIS) with auto-detection
On the connected computer, open the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome browser.
To log into the web GUI, type the router’s IP address in the address bar.
Once the login page appears, enter the default login credentials in the appropriate fields.
Note: The router's default user name is admin and the default password is admin.
Now, the QIS page will open automatically.
Your router detects your ISP type automatically.
Depending on the detected ISP connection, perform one of the following instructions to set up the Asus RT-AC51U+ router.
Automatic IP (DHCP) - If necessary, fill the Host Name and MAC Address fields. Click the Next button.
PPPoE, PPTP, or L2TP - Type the username and password provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and then click Next.
Static IP - Navigate to the Use the following IP address section and fill the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway fields. Also, fill the DNS Server1 and DNS Server2 fields under the DNS Servers section. To clone your MAC address, click the MAC Clone button and then click Next.
Go to the 2.4GHz - Security section. Enter a new SSID and password in the Network Name (SSID) and Security Key fields, respectively.
Navigate to the 5GHz - Security section. Type a new SSID and password in the appropriate fields.
Click the Apply button.
Confirm the wireless network information by clicking the Next button in the Completed Network Configuration Summary window.
Once done with the QIS of the Asus RT-AC51U+ router, click the Finish button.
Connect to a wireless network
After the router setup, you can connect your wireless devices to a wireless network. For this, carry out the following simple steps.
On your computer, navigate to the notification area.
Click the Network icon, choose your network name, and click the Connect button.
Enter the correct network key and click the OK button.
If the connection is established successfully, you will see the Connected message.
