Position your router
To get the best wireless signal transmission, keep in mind the following points while positioning your router.
You need to place your router in a centralized area to get maximum wireless coverage for all your network devices.
The router must be kept away from sunlight and metal obstructions.
Keep the router far away from Bluetooth devices, 2.4GHz computer peripherals, cordless phones, heavy-duty motors, transformers, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other industrial equipment.
Adjust the six detachable antennas in the correct position.
After the router placement, set up the Asus RT-AC3200 router as per the steps given below.
Before router setup
It is better to prefer a wired connection instead of a wireless connection when you set up your wireless router for the first time. Because, this will avoid possible setup problems.
In case of replacing your existing router with the Asus router, disconnect the existing router.
Also, unplug the cable that is connected to your modem.
You are strongly recommended to reboot the modem and your computer.
Use the AC adapter (in the package) to establish a connection between your router’s DC-IN port and a power outlet.
Make sure the router is powered up and proceed with the Asus RT-AC3200 router setup.
Note: Do not use some other adapter instead of the one that is in the package. Because, using another adapter might damage the router.
Connect the bundled network cable between the router’s LAN port and your computer’s Ethernet port.
Take another network cable and connect it between your modem and the router’s WAN port.
Insert the modem’s AC adapter into a power outlet.
Ensure that the modem is turned on.
Check if the Power, LAN, and WAN LEDs are lit on the router.
Log in to the web GUI
You can easily configure the router settings using an intuitive web graphical user interface. Before that, you have to get Asus Rt-Ac3200 router setup with the Quick Internet Setup (QIS) Smart Connect wizard as per the steps given here.
On the computer connected to the router’s network, open the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome web browser.
The QIS-Smart Connect wizard will launch automatically. If it does not launch automatically, enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar and press Enter.
Wait until the router detects your ISP (Internet Service Provider) connection type automatically.
If your ISP connection type is Dynamic IP, enter the username and password provided by your ISP.
If your ISP connection type is Static IP, select the Static IP option and click the Next button. Type the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the appropriate fields. Once done, click Next to continue with the Asus RT-AC3200 router setup.
Click the Next button and wait until you see the Smart Connect screen.
Once you click Next on the setup page, select the Tri-band Smart Connect or Standard Setup option.
Note: To enable the 2.4GHz, 5GHz-1, and 5GHz-2 frequency bands simultaneously, choose Tri-band Smart Connect. Or else, choose Standard Setup. You can set up three bands independently using the Standard Setup option.
Create a new network name and security key for your connection.
Click the Apply button to finish the Asus RT-AC3200 router setup.
Connect to a wireless network
After the router setup, you can easily connect your wireless device (computer or smartphone) to your wireless network. Here are the steps to get connected to your network.
On your computer’s home screen, navigate to the notification area and click the Network icon.
Now, choose the name of your wireless network.
Click the Connect button.
Type the correct security key and click the OK button.
Check if you see the Connected status message next to your SSID. This ensures that you have established a connection between the computer and your wireless network successfully.
